WIOA Partners: HUD Announces Moving to Work Research Advisory Committee to Meet on Conference Call on October 10; Open to Public

HUD has announced that the Moving to Work (MTW) Research Advisory Committee (Committee) will meet via a conference call on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. The meeting is open to the public and is accessible to individuals with disabilities.

The teleconference meeting will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Treasury Department Publishes Sixty-Day PRA Notice for "Work Opportunity Credit"

The Treasury Department has recently published the sixty-day PRA Notice for the "Work Opportunity Credit" with a projected number of 10,000 respondents.

Treasury notes, in part:

    Internal Revenue Code section 38(b)(2) allows a credit against income tax to employers hiring individuals from certain targeted groups such as welfare recipients, etc. The employer uses Form 5884 to compute this credit. The IRS uses the information on the form to verify that the correct amount of credit was claimed.

ETA Seeks Public Comment Revision to the H-2B Foreign Labor Certification Program; September 7 Federal Register Summarizes Changes

The Employment and Training Administration is seeking public comment on proposed revision to the H-2B Foreign Labor Certification Program information collection. This revision request will allow the agency to meet its statutory and regulatory responsibilities pertaining to labor certification applications that are used in the H-2B program and that allow employers to bring foreign labor to the United States on a temporary basis.

Written comments must be submitted by November 6, 2018.
